By the end of the year, Pittsburgh Steelers’ WR Diontae Johnson had put together a pretty impressive rookie campaign. The 2019 third-round pick was a part-time player for most of the season, but still finished with 59 catches, 680 yards and 5 touchdowns.

His success came despite his offense struggling with “poor play” at quarterback. Rudolph and Hodges combined efforts still lifted the franchise to 8-8. That’s unlikely to be an issue again in 2020, as Ben Roethlisberger has returned from injury.

59 CATCHES | 680 YARDS | 5 TOUCHDOWNS

Multiple receivers regularly shine in Pittsburgh’s pass-heavy offense. Roethlisberger likes to spread the ball out, and frequently supports multiple guys having a big year because of his tendency and ability to do this. Johnson is so versatile and quick, he’s an obvious big piece again this year.

Tomlin expressed to ESPN he has an expectation of Johnson handling a “large workload on offense.” The 24-year-old missed a few practice sessions this year, but he’s good to go for Week 1 against the Giants.
