Lenawee United Hockey has announced the hiring of the Varsity coaching staff for the 2020-21 season.Β Tyler Textor, a native of Erie, Michigan, takes the reigns as Head Coach of the Lenawee United Hockey Varsity co-op this fall.
The 27-year old brings with him an extensive background that includes playing collegiately at the University of Toledo, Junior hockey with the Michigan Ice Dogs, and youth hockey within the Toledo Cherokee, Belle Tire and Allen Park organizations.
βIβm super excited to lead this team,β said Textor
βAfter a successful year as a new program, Iβm looking forward to seeing the growth and development in year two. Thereβs a core group of players returning that gives us a foundation to build upon.Β I canβt wait to get the season started,β he continued.
βOur coaching search was an exhaustive effort,β said Lenawee United Hockey Boosters President Gregg DeVitto.Β βWe wanted someone with ties to the region and with experience at a high level of hockey.Β But, more importantly, we needed someone who could truly connect with our student-athletes.
βTylerβs own hockey career reflects a path that some of our athletes may wish to pursue,β added DeVitto. βHis ability to help those athletes achieve their goals and speak directly from first-hand experience is a tremendous asset for our program.”
Tyler is bringing a passion for the game that shines brightly and we are fortunate to have him on board,β said DeVitto
Serving as assistants with Textor this season will be Jacob Sniffen and Joe Haynes.Β Both coaches bring collegiate and Junior experience to the program.
Entering its second season of MHSAA competition Lenawee Unitedβs Varsity team will once again skate in the Southeastern Conference White Division.Β The high school co-op programΒ comprises eight Lenawee County schools including Adrian, Tecumseh, Clinton, Onsted, Lenawee Christian, Madison, Addison, and Sand Creek.
The Varsity teamβs first contest, a preseason exhibition, is scheduled for Saturday, November 7th against Lake High School Flyers at 6:00pm at the Toledo Ice House.
