LAFAYETTE, Ga. (MWSN) — The LaFayette Ramblers will host the Gordon Lee Trojans in a non-conference showdown Friday night, with both teams eager to secure their first win of the season after tough opening losses. LaFayette (0-1) returns home after a 30-0 defeat on the road, aiming to reignite their offense under the guidance of head coach Ethan Thompson. Gordon Lee (0-1), led by head coach Josh Groce, enters the contest after a 30-6 loss in their season opener.
Quarterback Daxtin Edwards lead the Ramblers’ attack in their first outing, and between the weather and Indian defense, he was unable to establish rhythm and consistency. He’ll look to do that tonight against a Trojans defense that also struggled in Week 1. Trojan Quarterback Dustin Day aims to jumpstart the Trojans’ offense, looking to connect early and often with his receivers to put pressure on the Ramblers’ secondary.

Running back Khalas Finley will be a key component of LaFayette’s offensive strategy. Finley’s speed and agility out of the backfield provide a versatile threat that the Ramblers hope to exploit against Gordon Lee’s defensive front.
LaFayette’s defense has a lot of potential this season. Up front flashes of brilliance could be seen from defensive lineman Ben Foley, whose presence will be crucial in containing the Trojans’ ground game at home. LaFayette will need a whole defense approach starting up front to get the win.
In the backfield, running back Peyton Groce is expected to shoulder the load for Gordon Lee’s rushing attack. His ability to find gaps and break tackles could prove pivotal in controlling the tempo of the game. Defensively, lineman Layne Parrish will look to disrupt LaFayette’s offensive schemes and apply pressure on Edwards throughout the matchup.
Both teams share similar statistics heading into Friday’s game, each having allowed 30 points in their respective losses. LaFayette was shut out offensively, while Gordon Lee managed to put six points on the board.
The matchup not only presents an opportunity for redemption but also sets the tone for the remainder of the season. With both teams eager to avoid an 0-2 start, fans can expect an intense and competitive game under the Friday night lights. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at LaFayette High School.
