WALESKA, Ga. (MWSN) — The Reinhardt University Eagles (2-4, 0-1 AAC) will look to snap a two-game losing streak when they face off against the Point University Skyhawks (1-5, 1-0 AAC) on Saturday, October 12 at 12:00 p.m. in Waleska, Ga. The Eagles are eager to secure their first conference victory of the season after falling to Pikeville last week, 47-21.

Reinhardt has leaned on its ground game this season, averaging 152.7 rushing yards per game. Junior running back Jerdavian “Jah” Colbert leads the charge with 292 rushing yards and a 6.1 yards-per-carry average. Quarterback Taylor Jackson III has thrown for 549 yards and five touchdowns, but the Eagles will need to improve their passing efficiency to find success against a Skyhawks defense allowing 161.7 passing yards per game.

Point enters the game fresh off their first win of the season, a 30-22 victory over Kentucky Christian. Senior quarterback Mitchell Gossett has thrown for 939 yards and eight touchdowns this season, but the Skyhawks have struggled to establish a consistent rushing attack, averaging just 53.2 rushing yards per game. They’ll face a Reinhardt defense that has allowed 255.3 rushing yards per game, creating a potential opening for Point to improve their ground game.

Reinhardt’s defense, which has struggled to contain the run, will need to step up against Point’s balanced attack. The Eagles are allowing 35.2 points and 436.5 total yards per game, with 255.3 of those coming on the ground. Linebackers and defensive linemen will play a crucial role in tightening up their run defense. Senior defensive back D’Juan Perkins has been a standout, and his leadership will be key in limiting the Skyhawks’ big-play potential through the air.

On the other side, Point’s defense will have its hands full containing Reinhardt’s rushing attack. The Skyhawks are allowing 182.5 rushing yards per game, and with the Eagles averaging 152.7 yards on the ground, this could be a prime opportunity for Reinhardt to control the tempo. Expect Point to rely on turnovers to create opportunities—Mitchell Gossett and the Skyhawks offense have shown they can capitalize when given short fields, as evidenced by their 30-point outburst last week.

With both teams desperate for momentum, this matchup could come down to which team can take control in the trenches. Kickoff is set for noon at Ken White Stadium in Waleska, and fans can expect a competitive Appalachian Athletic Conference showdown.

Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at Reinhardt University.
