The Adrian College Men’s Hockey team is headed back to the NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey Frozen Four after a thrilling overtime victory over the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers on Saturday night.
The game was a hard-fought battle between the two teams, with Stevens Point coming off a grueling four-overtime game the night before. Adrian struck first with an early goal from Alessio Luciani, but Stevens Point responded with a goal of their own later in the period to even the score at 1-1.
In the second period, Luciani scored again on a power play to give Adrian a 2-1 lead. However, Stevens Point quickly tied the game again before the second intermission, setting the stage for a tense third period.

Despite multiple opportunities, neither team was able to break the tie in the third period, leading to overtime. Adrian went on the power play and eventually had a 5-on-3 opportunity. Ty Enns took a shot from the right circle that was saved, but Matus Spodniak was there to pick up the rebound and score the game-winning goal, securing a 3-2 victory for the Bulldogs.
Nic Tallarico was stellar in goal for Adrian, making 37 saves throughout the game, including 15 in the opening period and three in overtime.
The Bulldogs now advance to the Frozen Four, where they will face off against the University of New England on Friday, March 24. The location and time of the game have yet to be announced by the NCAA, but will be made public on Saturday night or Sunday.
