There’s a long road ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers down the stretch, but history is on their side. Pittsburgh is now the first team since the 2015 Carolina Panthers to win its first nine games.
They are the NFL’s last undefeated team. Their record gives the franchise a one-game lead over the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs for the race to secure the AFC’s no. 1 seed.
Since the start of the Super Bowl era, just 21 NFL teams, including the 2020 Steelers, have won at least nine games before losing their first game. 11 of those teams have gone on to reach the Super Bowl,
Seven of the 11 teams that began their year 9-0 have gone on to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Do the Steelers have what it takes to knock off the defending Chiefs? I believe so.
