Kevin Harvick turned up the pressure on Denny Hamlin late in the Brickyard 400. At Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hamlin went careening into the first-turn wall with a flat right-front tire. Harvick beat Matt Kenseth off the final restart to win his second straight Brickyard.
Seven-time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, the no. 48 Hendrick Motorsports car, was not at the track on Sunday, after testing positive for COVID-19. Johnson watched the race from his Colorado home.
Kurt Busch made his 700th career start. After starting second, his hopes of winning were dashed during a pit stop. NASCAR’s weather problems also continued, this time with the start delayed 55 minutes for lightning.
