Teagan Kavan wears No. 17 to honor her grandmother, who was born on November 17, 1928.

Ninety-seven years later, on May 31, she passed away hours before Kavan was set to pitch against rival Oklahoma in the Women’s College World Series.

Her grandma never missed a game, and Teagan believes she had the best seat in the house, as her granddaughter threw a complete game in the Longhorns 4-2 win over the Sooners.

“This is where she wants me,” Kavan said in her post game interview.

Teagan hails from West Des Moines, Iowa, and made an immediate impact as a freshman, throwing a complete game shutout in her WCWS debut in 2024.

The  second-team All-American improved her record to 26-5 on the season, and she leads the Longhorns with a 2.40 ERA and 221 strikeouts.
