The Trine University Hockey team couldn’t overcome Aurora University over the weekend. The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) matchup finished with a final of 2-0 in favor of the Spartans.
Neither team found the net throughout the opening period and the majority of the second. The Spartans finally netted their first goal in the final minute of the second frame. Midway through the final period, Aurora added another goal.
Senior Kirsten Vandenheuvel led the way for the Thunder on offense, finishing with six shots on goal, trailed closely by senior Eryn Isaacson and junior Theresa DiMaggio, who each finished with five apiece.
Despite the loss, freshman goalie Abbie Bost played very well, saving 36 of Aurora’s 38 shot attempts.
The Thunder are currently scheduled to next take the ice February 26th, when they will host Adrian College. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00pm.
