Trine University’s football team has shared its much-anticipated game schedule for 2023.
The season kicks off for the Thunder with four non-conference games against teams from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC). Fans should mark their calendars for the season opener against Anderson University, set to start at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 2.
On September 9, excitement will grip Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium as it hosts its inaugural 2023 football game, featuring a showdown with the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. These two prominent engineering schools have offered up riveting matches in recent seasons. Recalling last year’s dramatic finish, the Thunder clinched a nail-biting 24-23 victory at Rose-Hulman. Fans can expect another electric evening, with the kickoff slated for 7 p.m.
The action continues on September 16, as Franklin College’s Grizzlies roll into town for a 1 p.m. match. Rounding out the non-conference games, Trine will hit the road to challenge Hanover College on September 23 at 1:30 p.m.
Trine’s prowess will be put to the test early in their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) campaign as they face the reigning champions, Alma College Scots, on September 30 at 2 p.m.
October promises to be exhilarating with two consecutive home games. On October 7, the Thunder squares off against the Adrian College Bulldogs at 1 p.m., hoping to extend their four-game winning streak and keep the Border Brawl trophy. Following this, on October 14, an epic rematch awaits as the Thunder and the University of Olivet Comets take the field. Fans will undoubtedly remember the three-overtime thriller from the previous season, which saw Alex Price securing the win for Trine with a critical two-point conversion. The game will kick off at 1 p.m.
The Thunder’s subsequent game is an away match against Albion College on October 21 at 1 p.m. After this, they’ll enjoy a bye week, recharging before the penultimate game against Hope College’s Flying Dutch on November 4 at 1 p.m.
Wrapping up the regular season, Trine prepares for a clash with the Kalamazoo College Hornets on November 11. Football enthusiasts should set their clocks for 1 p.m., as this promises to be a fitting conclusion to a dynamic season.
