Tennessee Wesleyan Wins 5th Consecutive AAC Conference Tournament Crown

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (MWSN) — Top-seeded Tennessee Wesleyan continued its dominance as it won its fifth consecutive Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men’s Tennis Tournament championship on Saturday.

Tennessee Wesleyan collected a 4-0 win over a scrappy, No. 3 seed SCAD Atlanta. The tournament was held at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Tennessee Wesleyan scored the doubles point, winning at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by the scores of 6-4 and 6-2, respectively.

SCAD Atlanta gave Tennessee Wesleyan all it could handle at No. 1 and No. 5 singles. After dropping the first set, Joewyn Pascua was up 5-0 in set two when the match concluded, while Firas Ben Chouikha was even with TWU’s Asier Pascual, with both winning a set by the identical score of 6-2 and being tied 1-1 in the third.

Juan Carlos Garcia and David Leon won at No. 2 and No. 4 singles to give Tennessee Wesleyan a 3-0 lead, and Zoilo Rios clinched the championship with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles..

With the win, Tennessee Wesleyan receives an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship Tournament, which is set for May 13-17 in Mobile, Ala.
