The New Orleans Saints will start Taysom Hill for their Week 11 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. This will mark Hill’s first career start in the NFL. New Orleans and head coach Sean Payton seem to believe in the signal caller. During the offseason they penned Hill to a two-year, $21 million contract.
A lot of fans, analysts, and commentators were surprised to see the decision to start him. I am not. Hill has always been the plan for New Orleans. I wrote an article about this when they extended him. They view him as the future of the franchise. I personally like Hill, so I would like to see him do well. My better judgement tells me their scheme will need some adjusting for him to have success.
Hill has attempted just 18 passes in his four NFL seasons. He’s completed 10 for 205 yards and an interception. Hill last started a regular season game at quarterback in his redshirt senior season at BYU in 2016, completing 59.7% of his passes (372 attempts) for 2,323 yards and 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
