Spring Arbor Cougars Earn Split On Final Day Of The Spring Games

Spring Arbor baseball team had a split result from their four-game series with Marian, which began last Thursday in Kokomo, Indiana. The Cougars lost to the Knights 7-8 in game one, but they bounced back in game two with an 11-8 win.

In game one, Spring Arbor held a 6-2 advantage in the seventh inning, thanks to the top of their batting order, which accounted for all six of the team’s runs. But, the Knights’ offense became productive in the eighth inning, scoring six runs to win the game.

Game two was different as the Cougars used a six-run inning to steal a lead away. The Cougars were down by three runs in the second inning before the offense erupted. The highlight of the inning was a 2-run home run each from Bryce Richey and Landon Raczkowski. In the fourth inning, Braedon Leathed also hit a two-run home run.

In game one, Richey went 4-for-5 with three RBIs, while Evan Lorey was 1-for-4 with two RBIs, and Raczkowski went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Sean Cassel pitched six innings and struck out four in the process.

In game two, six Cougars recorded a hit, with three of them recording at least two hits. Four Cougars also recorded two RBIs. Richey smacked his second home run of the season, while Raczkowski hit his team-leading fourth home run in the third inning. Jared Plane earned the win on the mound, striking out four batters in 4.2 innings of action.

The Cougars currently have a 7-8 (2-8 CL) record, while Marian has an 11-11 (5-5 CL) record. The two teams will face each other again in their next game on Tuesday, March 21st, with game one starting at 1:00 pm.
