Senior Day was a good day for the Green Bay women’s basketball team on Saturday. The team pulled off a big victory over UIC for a second-straight day with a 70-45 win at the Kress Center. Seniors Caitlyn Hibner, Meghan Pingel and Lyndsey Robson were honored after the game with congratulatory videos and gifts by teammates.
The Phoenix (12-4 HL) defense was back in store, holding the Flames (1-11 HL) to 27.9 percent (17-61) shooting and 18 turnovers. The 45 points are the fewest GB has allowed in a game this season, scoring 22 points off those 18 Flames’ turnovers.
It was the senior Robson who led all scorers with 16 points, on a perfect 3-for-3 effort from long range and 6-for-8 overall from the field. Hibner (nine points) and Pingel (eight points) also helped in the home win, with Hibner racking up 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals. Pingel had six assists and three steals.
Green Bay will wrap up its regular season with a lot on the line next weekend. GB will visit Wright State, who entered the week leading the current Horizon League seeding. The Phoenix entered the week at No. 3.
