NFL teams continue to reach out to the Detroit Lions to pursue the possibility of trading for quarterback Matthew Stafford. The Lions and Stafford have mutually agreed to part ways this offseason.
The Lions claim to be looking for “fair market value” for Stafford. He was the no. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft in 2009, when then GM Martin Mayhew selected him out of the University of Georgia.
Stafford has since thrown for 45,109 yards, 282 touchdowns and 144 interceptions. The Lions made three playoff appearances with Stafford, losing in the wild-card round all three times.
Stafford should fetch quite a bit of value. The longtime starter for Detroit is one of the greatest arm talents in the NFL and can throw the ball on a dime. He is well respected throughout the league.
