The Adrian College men’s basketball team will travel to Kalamazoo to take on NCAA Division I Western Michigan University tonight. Western Michigan has opened its season 0-2 with losses to Butler and Michigan State. T
he Broncos fell to the Butler Bulldogs 66-62, and to the Spartans 79-61. Western Michigan is coached by first year head coach Clayton Bates who spent a larger portion of his career as an assistant for the Broncos.
WMU is led by B. Artis White who averages 18.0 ppg with a team-high 13 rebounds, eight assists, and a 60% 3pt percentage. As a team, WMU averages 61.5 ppg while allowing 72.5 ppg.
The Broncos get outrebounded by opponents 68-66 and currently hold a turnover margin of -4. WMU has won two MAC Tournament titles (2004 and 2014) along with six regular season titles (1952, 1976, 1981, 1998, 2004, 2014). In 2019-20, the Broncos finished 13-19 (6-12 MAC).
The Bulldogs currently hold an 0-3 record with losses to Trine, Manchester, and Bluffton. Adrian is led by Kendall Bellamy, Connor Pelham, and Robert Warrick. Bellamy averages 21.0 ppg with a team-high 24 rebounds and seven blocks.
Bellamy leads NCAA DIII schools in blocks standing at 6’6″. Warrick averages 12.7 ppg with 18 rebounds and a team high 12 assists and five steals. Pelham dropped 13 points in 31 minutes played against Bluffton in his first appearance of the season.
Adrian is led by head coach Kyle Lindsay who is in his fifth season as head coach and is assisted by two new assistant coaches, Tim Kaiser and Peter Smith.

Adrian’s game against WMU marks the first time the Bulldogs have played a DI team since the 2016-17 season where they faced off against Detroit Mercy and Akron. This marks the third all-time meeting against Western Michigan.
The Bulldogs are 0-2 against the Broncos with losses in 1915 and 1921. Adrian will play against Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan on Wednesday night.
There will be no fans in attendance at either of the games. Monday’s game against Western Michigan will be live streamed on ESPN+ along with a radio broadcast from ACTV on YouTube and on 107.9 FM WVAC Adrian.
Wednesday’s game against Easrern Michigan will be streamed on ESPN3 with a radio broadcast by ACTV on YouTube and on 107.9 FM WVAC Adrian.
