The Detroit Lions new Head Coach Dan Campbell has agreed to a six-year contract with the team. The Lions announced Campbell’s hiring on Wednesday. The team will introduce him officially during a news conference on Thursday.
Campbell is currently the New Orleans Saints’ assistant head coach and tight ends coach. He is replacing Matt Patricia, who was fired in November.In three seasons with Detroit his teams went 13-29-1.
Campbell doesn’t have much experience as a head coach. He filled in for 12 games as an interim head coach for the Miami Dolphins. He joins recently hired general manager Brad Holmes as they work to rebuild the franchise.
Campbell played 10 seasons in the NFL, including the final three years of his career for the Lions.
