The Detroit Lions will have a new signal caller under center in the upcoming NFL season. Jared Goff will now be running things in Detroit, after the Los Angeles Rams acquired Matthew Stafford in a trade. Goff is looking to get his NFL career back on track as well as turn around the struggling Lions franchise.
Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones, two key receiving targets for Detroit, both left during free agency. Marvin Jones signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Kenny Golladay left to join the New York Giants. Jared Goff will have to hope for a breakout year from a new target to bolster his own success.
Detroit is rated by PFF as having one of the weaker rosters in the NFC. The Lions didn’t make many moves or upgrades on defense, which was a weak spot last season. The team will need a bit of luck to win consistently. As unlikely as that is, Detroit will probably struggle to keep points off the board early this season.
