Adrian boasts a school-record eight honorees on the CBN NCAA Division III Players to Watch in 2020, a preseason All-America team chosen by D-III head coaches across the country.
The Bulldogs’ honored are pitchers senior Pierce Banks, juniors Mo Hanley, Jordan Williams and sophomore Maxwell Denny, seniors Gunner Rainey at catcher and Brady Wood at second base, and juniors Thomas Miller at shortstop and outfielder Brandon Cooper.
Adrian is ranked preseason No. 14 by American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and No. 15 by D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, with most of the lineup and all three conference starters returning from a record-breaking 2019 squad.
Head Coach Craig Rainey (class of ’89) has compiled 691 wins going into his 27th season at the Adrian helm. “The guys are excited to get outside and start playing. They have been working really hard in preparation for this season,” he told adrianbulldogs.com.
“We have a large number of seniors that will be looking forward to the last run at AC and trying to win another conference title and secure a NCAA Regional bid” – Craig Rainey
“We are excited about our team as it appears on paper and with our depth, but it still comes down to us going out and getting the job done on the field. I know this group of guys are good at not falling prey to expectations. They will show up and play the same way whether we are ranked or not.”
The Bulldogs have 36 returnees on the 58-man roster that provides depth and experience combined with a talented recruiting class.
