Adrian College Bests MSOE in Weekend Series on Rex Moe Goal

Rex Moe scored on a tip-in while parallel to the ice from in front of the goal with 31 seconds left to lift Adrian to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory Saturday over host MSOE in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association men’s hockey action.

Senior Cameron Gray had 27 saves to improve to 4-4 on the season. Junior Zach Goberis led Adrian in face-offs by going 8-for-11, followed by classmates Sam Ruffin with 14-for-24, Trevor Coykendall with 6-for-8 and sophomore Alessio Luciani with 11-of-18.

Kyle Herbster assisted on Makowski’s lone tally. Matt Hanewall led the Raiders with four shots on goal. Logan Halladay (L, 2-3) made 24 stops.

Adrian improves to 41-7-4 all-time versus MSOE, including an 18-2 mark on Raiders ice. The teams combined today on 0-for-13 power-play chances (AC-0/6; MSOE-0/7). The Raiders have lost four in a row after beginning the season 4-0.

Moe takes over the team lead with eight goals and 13 points. Gray saw his personal-record scoreless streak of 132:50–spanning four games–snapped by MSOE Makowski’s goal midway through the first period.

Adrian will have its NCHA home-opening series on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12-13, versus Marian (Wis.) at Arrington Ice Arena. Friday’s puckdrop is 7:05 p.m. while Saturday’s will be 3:05 p.m.
