The Adrian College men’s basketball team defeated the Olivet Comets on the road 85-76. The Bulldogs move into second place in the MIAA conference standings with an 8-5 record. The Bulldogs were led by Jordan Harris with 25 points, and Kendall Bellamy who finished with 11 points and a team leading seven rebounds.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 13-5 lead with just over five minutes played in the game. Trey Helinski made a three-pointer to put Adrian up eight. Olivet came back and made back-to-back shots from beyond the arc to put the game within three. A made jumper from Helinski and a made free throw and layup from Jeremy Kalonji put Adrian up four at 39-35. Right before the buzzer, Harris took a shot from three-point range that was good to lead by eight at halftime.
Olivet came out scoring after the break and brought the Bulldog lead to just three at 52-49. Adrian followed up with a 13-0 run to take its largest lead of the night at 65-49. Kalonji hit a shot from deep to lead by 16 with 11 minutes left to play. Adrian held a large lead the rest of the way and came away with an 85-76 victory.
The Bulldogs will face Calvin University on the road on Saturday in their regular season finale. A win will give Adrian the two seed in the MIAA and a first round bye in the conference playoffs.
