It’s time for Super Bowl LVII, and we have a full preview for you right here. The 57th edition of the Super Bowl will take place tomorrow night, with the AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs taking on the NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles in Arizona. Both teams are recent champions, with the Chiefs looking for their first Super Bowl win since 2020 and the Eagles trying to win it all for the first time since 2018.
As for the game, many are picking the Chiefs as favorites due to Patrick Mahomes, who many consider the best player in football. However, the Eagles have a strong defense and offensive line, and there’s a scenario in which they can come up with a few negative plays in high-leverage situations to secure the win. Regardless of who comes out on top, the Super Bowl is sure to be an exciting and entertaining event for fans across the country.
Our picks and analysis are included in the podcast below.
Country star Chris Stapleton will perform the national anthem, and Rihanna will take the halftime stage. The game will air on Fox at 6:30 PM Eastern Time, with Kevin Burkhart and Greg Olson providing commentary.
According to the American Gaming Association, more than 50 million adults are expected to place a bet of some kind for Super Bowl LVII, with an estimated $16 billion to be wagered on the game, more than twice as much as last year. The game’s venue outside Phoenix has a sports book inside State Farm Stadium, making it easy for bets to be placed on site. Of the 50 million people betting, 38% will do so online, 26% will take part in office pools, and 13% will work with a bookie. Since the Supreme Court struck down a law banning commercial sports betting in May 2018, 33 states and Washington DC have legalized gambling.
Before the game, it’s worth noting some fun facts about the Super Bowl: it’s the most-watched television event in the United States, with over 100 million viewers each year; Super Bowl Sunday is the second-largest food consumption day in America after Thanksgiving; the Super Bowl trophy, known as the Vince Lombardi Trophy, is named after the legendary Green Bay Packers coach who won the first two Super Bowls; Super Bowl tickets are among the most expensive in sports, with prices often reaching thousands of dollars; and Super Bowl commercials are some of the most expensive in advertising, with a 30-second spot costing millions of dollars.
