WATCH: Adrian College Scores Eight Goals in Regular Season Opener

The Adran College women’s hockey team defeated the Trine University Thunder at home 8-1 to begin the regular season. The Bulldogs led 3-0 after the first period, and 6-1 after the second period. Neysa Miller totaled two goals on the game to lead Adrian past the Thunder.

The Bulldogs started the scoring halfway through the first period with a power play goal by Emma Corbett. Reaghan Pietrowski and Brooke Schembri added assists on the first goal. Schembri picked up another assist three minutes later on a power play goal from Abbie Grias to lead 2-0. Lindsey Sorrell added to the offense with the third goal of the game on assists from Kaleigh Codorette and Callie Wollschlager.

Adrian kept its foot on the gas in the second period and jumped up 5-0. Pietrowski scored on assists from Grias and Schembri on another power play. Cordoette added a goal later in the period to lead 5-0. Trine answered back to get on the board and bring the score to 5-1. Neysa Miller scored her first goal of the game shorthanded to put the Bulldogs at a 6-1 advantage.

Adrian netted two more goals in the third period to bring the final to 8-1. Miller scored again on an assist from Pietrowski and Jessica Anderson. Schembri later scored on a power play to bring the final to 8-1. Adrian finished 4-for-4 on the power play and held Trine to 0-for-6.

The Bulldogs return to competition on Friday, November 6th at Trine University at 7:00 PM.
