The Adrian College football team kicks off the fall season with a home game against Trine University on Saturday, October 3, 2020. The game between the Bulldogs and the Thunder marks the first NCAA Division III game of the 2020 season and the first college football game in the state of Michigan and Indiana.

The Bulldogs finished the 2019 regular season with a 5-5 record, finishing 4-3 in conference play. Trine finished their 2019 campaign with a 5-5 record, finishing 2-5 in conference play. In 2019, Adrian defeated Trine on November 9 at home by a score 34-26 with the help of 21 third quarter points. Adrian quarterback Jack Wurzer finished the game 18-for-31 throwing for 195 yards with one touchdown. Jerome Neal rushed for 96 yards with two scores to push the Bulldogs over the Thunder.

This will be the first college football game in Michigan since 2019

Adrian averaged 407.3 yards on offense with 245.6 coming in the air, and 161.7 coming on the ground in 2019. The Bulldogs tallied 26.1 points per game during the 2019 season while Trine averaged 25.2. The Thunder put up 321.9 yards per game last season with 188.6 coming from the rush.

Adrian returns quarterback Wurzer to the offense who lead the MIAA in yards per game in 2019 with 245. Wide receiver Henry Wilson returns for the Bulldogs who led the MIAA in yards per game receiving with 89.8. Wurzer was third in touchdown passes on the season in the conference with 14 while throwing eight of them to Wilson who was second in the conference in receiving touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, Adrian recorded nine interceptions last season with five fumble recoveries to go along with 14 sacks. Trine recorded 30 sacks on the season with only ten of them coming against a conference opponent. The Thunder defense also recovered three fumbles along with eleven interceptions to go along with three defensive touchdowns.
