CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.  |  SESNsports.com  |  June 7th, 2025 — Chattanooga Red Wolves SC will host first-time visitors Portland Hearts of Pine on Saturday night in a USL League One clash at CHI Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and the match will stream live on ESPN+.

Chattanooga (3-1-4), sitting fourth in the league with 13 points, has won three of its last four league matches and boasts the third-best shot-conversion rate in USL1 at 19 percent, despite ranking last in pass accuracy (62 percent). Matthew Bentley leads the Red Wolves with four goals, and goalkeeper Jason Smith has already recorded three clean sheets, the third-most in the league.

Portland (1-1-5), making its inaugural appearance in Chattanooga, occupies 11th place with eight points and an even goal differential of 7–7. The Hearts lead the league in passing accuracy (75.1 percent) but convert just 11.5 percent of their shots. Veteran striker Jake Keegan enters with 98 career professional goals, and goalkeeper Hunter Morse has maintained a 42.6 percent save rate under heavy shot volume.

Saturday’s matchup marks the first competitive meeting between the two clubs. The Red Wolves will look to capitalize on home advantage and climb into the top three, while the Hearts aim to translate their U.S. Open Cup success — including upsets of Hartford Athletic and Detroit City FC — into their first road victory of the season.

Chattanooga head coach Scott Mackenzie has instilled a high-press, “lunch-pail” mentality that has yielded 10 of a possible 12 points over the past four games. Portland boss Bobby Murphy, in his inaugural season as head coach and sporting director, has built a side noted for its community-first culture and resilience, earning five draws in seven league outings.

A victory for Chattanooga would tighten the race for the top playoff spots, while a win for Portland would pull the expansion side within striking distance of the postseason. The return leg is scheduled for Sept. 13 at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland, Maine.
