VALPARAISO, Ind. | adrianbulldogs.com | September 7th, 2025 โ€” Adrian College opened the 2025 football season with a statement win, knocking off NCAA Division I Valparaiso 10-7 on Saturday night. The victory was the Bulldogsโ€™ first over the Beacons since the teamsโ€™ only other meeting in 1926, a 13-13 tie.

Adrianโ€™s defense set the tone early. After a fumble on the Bulldogsโ€™ first offensive series, Quincy Dorsey intercepted a pass in the end zone to halt Valparaisoโ€™s opening threat. The teams traded punts until late in the second quarter when Adrian converted a fourth-down stop into a Jack Boike field goal for a 3-0 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs controlled the third quarter with a nine-minute drive that ended just short of the goal line. The defense answered again with back-to-back takeaways โ€” an interception by Koronnis Davis and a forced fumble by Ethan Layton โ€” to keep momentum on Adrianโ€™s side.

Valparaiso finally broke through in the fourth quarter, capping a nine-play drive with a touchdown to move ahead 7-3 with 1:25 remaining. But Adrianโ€™s offense delivered late. Quarterback Noah Beaudrie hit Ethan Abberger and Braiden Whitaker for key completions before finding Abberger for a 26-yard touchdown strike in the final minute.

Beaudrie finished 16-for-23 with 183 yards and the winning score. Abberger led the receiving corps with six catches for 79 yards, while Whitaker added 68 yards on six receptions. Running back Trey Brueggemann carried 22 times for 79 yards. Dorsey highlighted the defense with two takeaways, and Maddox Woods posted a team-high nine tackles.

Adrian (1-0) returns home Saturday, Sept. 13, to host Thiel College at 3 p.m.
