The historic conversion sets the stage for Saturday’s MLB Speedway Classic, a nationally televised matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds.

The game will air at 7:15 p.m. ET on FOX and is expected to break MLB’s single-game regular-season attendance record, with more than 85,000 tickets sold as of Monday, the 28th, to fans from all 50 states and nine countries.

The project was led by BrightView, alongside AstroTurf, MLB’s official synthetic turf partner, and Baker Construction. The infield transformation included the full build-out of baseball infrastructure: batting cages, bullpens, dugouts, a regulation mound, and base paths- all installed within the infield of one of NASCAR’s most iconic venues.

AstroTurf deployed its Diamond Series system, a surface engineered specifically for baseball, designed to replicate the performance of natural grass while delivering consistent bounce and elite-level traction. The same system is used by top-tier college programs and MLB training facilities.

The towering grandstands of Bristol Motor Speedway- long a cathedral of racing, now frame a fully-formed diamond, marking a surreal convergence of two American pastimes. With the final preparations complete, all eyes turn to the main event.

The Braves and Reds will meet under the lights in a one-of-a-kind ballpark, in front of what is expected to be the largest crowd ever to watch a regular-season MLB game.

It’s not too late to get tickets to the iconic event. Visit the ticketing page setup by the MLB to get tickets to the event. Ticket prices for the MLB Speedway Classic start at just $50 (plus sales tax & fees).
