LANCASTER, Calif. | NSBNsports.com | June 7th, 2025 — AV Alta FC will welcome Spokane Velocity FC to Lancaster Municipal Stadium on Saturday night in a much-anticipated USL League One rematch between two of the league’s most promising expansion clubs.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. Pacific and will stream nationally on ESPN+.
Venue: Lancaster Municipal Stadium | Lancaster, Calif.
Kick-off: 8:00 p.m. PT, Saturday, June 7, 2025
Home Club: AV Alta FC (AVA, 3-3-2 | 7th)
Away Club: Spokane Velocity FC (SPO, 6-1-2 | 1st)
Broadcast: ESPN+ | Talent: Gabriel Schray (play-by-play)
The teams last met on April 19, when Spokane edged AV Alta 2-1 in a fiery battle marked by physical play and rising tensions. Since then, both clubs have continued to impress in their sophomore seasons—Spokane enters the weekend atop the League One standings at 6-1-2, while AV Alta (3-3-2) sits seventh and unbeaten in its last three league matches.
AV Alta is coming off a dramatic penalty shootout win over USL Championship side Oakland Roots in the Jägermeister Cup. That result extended the club’s strong form at home, where it has posted a 7-1-1 record across all competitions. Head coach Brian Kleiban’s squad has relied on the consistent shot-stopping of Carlos Avilez and timely goals from forward Maboumou Alassane, who scored the equalizer in stoppage time last weekend.
Spokane will be without winger Shavon John-Brown, away on international duty, but continues to rely on red-hot striker Anuar Pelaez, who leads the league with six goals. The Velocity have won five straight league matches and boast the USL’s best goal differential (+11), backed by a defense that has allowed just six goals all season.
Saturday’s contest could have major playoff implications. A win for AV Alta would vault the club into the top five, while Spokane will aim to solidify its hold on first place.

Referee Corbyn May will oversee the match. A crowd near capacity is expected at “The Hangar,” where AV Alta has developed one of the league’s most raucous home atmospheres.
Both clubs are in only their second year of existence, but Saturday’s clash may serve as an early-season playoff preview—and a budding rivalry to watch in USL League One.
