COLUMBIA, S.C. (MWSN) — The Presbyterian College baseball team (14-16, Big South 6-3) dropped a midweek contest to the South Carolina Gamecocks (18-12, SEC 1-8) on Tuesday night, falling 11-1 in seven innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• After two scoreless innings, the Blue Hose struck first in the top of the third. Trey Fenderson and Jake Randolph worked back-to-back walks before Amman Dewberry delivered an RBI single up the middle to give Presbyterian a 1-0 lead.
• South Carolina quickly responded in the bottom half, as Ethan Petry launched a two-run homer over the left-field wall to put the Gamecocks ahead 2-1.
• The score remained unchanged through the fourth and fifth innings, but South Carolina broke it open in the sixth, plating five runs to extend their lead to 7-1.
• In the seventh, a pair of Presbyterian errors led to four unearned runs, sealing an 11-1 run-rule victory for the Gamecocks.
NOTABLES
• With a double in the first inning, Fenderson pushed his season total to a team-leading eight.
