Presbyterian College Football Prepares for 2024 Season with Strong Returners

CLINTON, S.C. (MWSN) – The Presbyterian College football team has kicked off its 2024 preseason with high expectations and a robust lineup of returning players. Under the leadership of Head Coach Steve Englehart, now in his third year, the Blue Hose will engage in 21 preseason practices leading up to their season opener at Mercer on Thursday, August 29.

This season, Presbyterian has garnered significant recognition, with seven players named to Phil Steele’s preseason All-Pioneer Football League (PFL) team, setting a new program record. Wide receiver Dominic Kibby, tight end Worth Warner, and linebacker Alex Herriott earned first-team honors. Offensive lineman Patch Bennett, defensive back Brooks Russ-Martin, and kicker Mack Mikko were named to the second team, while defensive lineman Carter Szydlowski secured a third-team spot.

Kibby, a junior from Catonsville, Md., has amassed 1,572 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns over two seasons, earning FCS Freshman All-American honors in 2022. Warner, a senior tight end from Raleigh, N.C., recorded 403 yards on 31 receptions last season, including a game-winning touchdown against Wofford. Herriott, a senior linebacker from Hanahan, S.C., ranked fifth nationally in solo tackles and ninth in total tackles as a junior, bringing his career total to 272.

The 2024 schedule includes notable matchups such as the season opener at Mercer on August 29, a home game against Virginia-Lynchburg on September 14, and key PFL contests against Davidson, San Diego, and Morehead State.
