Taysom Hill has completed just six passes in his NFL career, but he has proved himself as a trick-play specialist. Hill has become a fan favorite, though many question his viability as a starter for an NFL franchise.
Last season he scored six touchdowns as a receiver and another on the ground. New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton has time and time again told media and analysts that he believes Hill has a future at quarterback in the NFL.
“For those that aren’t sold, it’s probably because they haven’t seen enough of him in games and I can certainly understand that,” Payton said, to the New Orleans Advocate.
“We’ve seen hundreds of reps that weren’t necessarily regular season games and we’ve seen some of the things we feel he can do on a consistent basis.”
“We think he’s going to be an outstanding NFL quarterback. He’s a very good athlete. But I think that’s a normal reaction for any fan relative to someone that is getting ready to play that position and they haven’t had the same amount of snaps to look at.”
That would all line up with what Jay Glazer of FOX has been saying for months now. Glazer believes that once NOLA hero Drew Brees retires that the franchise will move forward with Taysom as the new signal caller.

The Saints and Hill agreed to a two-year, $21 million deal with $16 million guaranteed earlier this offseason. New Orleans signed James Winston to replace Teddy Bridgewater, so expect Hill to continue being a gadget player until his time comes.
Hill turns 30-years-old in August.
