Detroit Lions Release DT Damon Harrison

On Thursday, the Detroit Lions made the decision to release veteran DT Damon Harrison, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Releasing Harrison will free up $6,718,750 of available cap space.

He was traded to Detroit midway through the 2018 season. He signed a one-year, $11,000,000 extension with the organization last offseason, and the intent was that he’d remain in Detroit through the 2021 season.

The 31-year-old 48 tackles, two sacks and three pass defenses in the 2019 season.

Michael Rothstein speculated that A’Shawn Robinson and Mike Daniels could may both depart, meaning the Lions may need to draft some new talent on the defensive front.
