Adrian College’s Basketball Has Strong Second to Best Olivet

The Adrian College men’s basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak against the Olivet Comets over the weekend. Adrian was led by Jordan Harris and Jeremy Kalonji who each finished the game with 31 points.

After six minutes of play, the Bulldogs trailed 13-9. Olivet struck a run to lead by 12, but Trey Helinski hit a three-pointer from deep to put Adrian back on track.

With just over six minutes remaining in the first half, Helinski hit another jumper which was followed by a three-point basket from Kalonji to trail by three.

With 13 second left on the clock, Olivet went up 46-38, but Kalonji smacked a three before the buzzer to go into halftime trailing 46-41.

After finishing the first half with four points, Harris got hot and was ready to lead the Bulldogs the rest of the way.

Harris made a layup early in the second half. A layup by Kalonji gave Adrian the lead which was followed up by a three from Harris to give them a 51-47 lead. Harris went on the make two more three-pointers and score nine consecutive points for the Bulldogs.

Olivet brought the lead to within six, but Harris struck again to lead by nine and force a Comet timeout. Late in the game, Adrian ended up in the double bonus and took full advantage. The Bulldogs made their last five free throws to finish the game at 96-83.

Harris put up 27 points in the second half by shooting 7-for-11 from the field and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Kalonji added 17 second half points and the two combined for 62 points as a duo for the game.
